Although Diamond has continued to sell healthy quantities of his albums and to fill arenas for his concerts, Heartlight and its title song, which was a Top Ten hit, were his last record releases as what might be called 'a front'line artist,' one who makes contemporary music for a contemporary audience and sells a million copies on release. It's a typical album for Diamond at this point, full of romantic sentiments rendered in highly produced settings and employing the cream of L.A. Studio musicians, but lacking the excitement of his early work and the ambition of his middle period.

Diamond's unique connection with audiences the world over is evident all throughout the breadth of material presented on this box set. Witness the folk-rock reverie of 'Solitary Man,' the unbridled exuberance of ' Cherry Cherry,' the sweet acoustic twang of 'Forever in Blue Jeans,' the pure Americana swing of 'Kentucky Woman,' the eternal sing-along sunshine of 'Sweet Caroline,' the raw emotionality of 'I AmI Said,' the welcoming arms of 'America,' and the deeply expressive heartlight that's on full display in his chart-topping duet with Barbra Streisand, 'You Don't Bring Me Flowers,' for just the tip of the iceberg of Diamond's artistic achievements.
Compilation album by the American singer-songwriter. Featuring some of his best-loved tracks including 'Forever in Blue Jeans', 'I Am.I Said', 'Sweet Caroline' and 'Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon', the album showcases Diamond's 54 years in the music industry. Neil Diamond's five-decade career as a singer, songwriter, and performer has certainly been a successful one by any standard. He's sold well over 115 million records worldwide to date and has had eight number one singles ('Cracklin Rosie,' 'Song Sung Blue,' 'Desiree,' 'You Don't Bring Me Flowers,' 'Love on the Rocks,' 'America,' 'Yesterday's Songs,' and 'Heartlight'), and if he hasn't always generated the kind of critical respect he probably deserves, he's been a steady and dependable artist who has managed to keep his large core audience happy. This 23-track set surveys the whole of Diamond's recording career, collecting his key and signature sides, beginning with his first hits for Bang Records in the mid-'60s through his commercial peak for Uni/MCA between 1968 and 1972, cuts from 1980's The Jazz Singer (a soundtrack album that went platinum five times over on Capitol Records), and ending with tracks from Diamond's two Rick Rubin-produced albums, 2005's 12 Songs and 2008's Home Before Dark, on Columbia Records.
Amazingly, this is the first multi-label single-disc collection of Diamond's signature songs like 'Forever in Blue Jeans,' 'Cherry, Cherry,' 'I Am.I Said,' 'Sweet Caroline,' 'Cracklin' Rosie,' 'I'm a Believer,' 'Holly Holy,' 'Solitary Man,' 'Song Sung Blue,' 'Kentucky Woman,' 'Brother Love's Traveling Salvation Show,' his hit duet with Barbra Streisand 'You Don't Bring Me Flowers,' and many others. The end result is the perfect career-spanning single-disc introduction to this iconic singer and songwriter. Steve Leggett, Rovi.

ReleasedAugust 25, 1967Recorded1967Length30: 15,chronology(1966)Just for You(1967)(1968)Just for You is the second. Like his debut, it has never been released on, though all but two of the tracks were made available on the compilation. All tracks are also available on the compilation album.
At some point or another, every single track on it was released either as an A-side or a B-side of a single, with many of them becoming big hits: 'You Got to Me' (#18), 'Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon' (#10), ' (#13), 'Red Red Wine' (#62), and 'Shilo' (#24 in 1970). Curiously, the year-old hit 'Cherry Cherry' (from Diamond's first LP) also appears here, while the then-current hit ' (#22) does not. 'Solitary Man' also re-appears in its 1966 version. This version would be re-released in 1970 and chart at #21. This was Diamond's first album consisting entirely of original material, and his final album for the label.Professional ratingsReview scoresSourceRatingTrack listing All songs written by Neil Diamond.Side oneNo.TitleLength1.'
